“A completely separate network... yet share CPU power with Bitcoin.”

/ About

Stacks Labs is the operational hub of the Stacks ecosystem — the leading infrastructure for making Bitcoin programmable, usable, and productive.

Bitcoin is the most important financial network in the world, but on its own, the base chain can't support the applications and functionality needed to unlock its full potential. Stacks solves this by enabling smart contracts, decentralized applications, and Bitcoin-native DeFi that settle directly to the Bitcoin blockchain.

Stacks Labs drives this mission forward. Born out of SIP-031 — a historic community governance decision — Stacks Labs is responsible for core protocol engineering, developer relations, ecosystem growth, and strategic partnerships across the Stacks network. We build and maintain the infrastructure, developer tools, and growth engine that make the Bitcoin economy real and accessible at scale.

What we do

Core protocol development, developer tooling, ecosystem marketing, grants, and partnerships for the Stacks Bitcoin Layer 2.

The problem we solve

Core protocol development, developer tooling, ecosystem marketing, grants, and partnerships for the Stacks Bitcoin Layer 2.

Bitcoin's base layer cannot scale to support programmability, DeFi, or decentralized applications on its own. Stacks extends Bitcoin's capabilities while inheriting its security, enabling a new generation of Bitcoin-native applications.

Who we serve

Blockchain developers building on Bitcoin, institutional and retail users seeking Bitcoin-native DeFi, and partners integrating with the Stacks ecosystem.

Leadership

Alex Miller — CEO

Alex is a seasoned startup executive and ecosystem veteran who has spent his career scaling early-stage technology companies. Before leading Stacks Labs, Alex served as CEO of Hiro Systems, where he built developer tools for the Stacks ecosystem. Prior to crypto, Alex spent 8 years at Stack Overflow, where he partnered with co-founder Joel Spolsky to run operations and launch the enterprise business from $0 to $15M+ ARR. He has also held executive roles at Yext and env0. Alex is a co-author of SIP-031, the governance proposal that created Stacks Labs, and has testified before the U.S. House Agriculture and Financial Services committees on building on Bitcoin and regulatory clarity for builders.

Adriano Di Luzio — CTO

Adriano is a deeply experienced protocol engineer and technical leader in blockchain infrastructure. Before joining Stacks Labs, Adriano served as CTO of Algorand Labs, the core development organization behind the Algorand Layer 1 blockchain. At Stacks Labs, Adriano leads core protocol engineering, overseeing critical projects including sBTC development, Clarity WASM, and ongoing protocol upgrades. His team of core developers works to accelerate Stacks' capabilities, streamline the developer experience, and strengthen Stacks' integration with Bitcoin.
